Krinkels has stated that the "J" in Hank's full name stands for "Motherfucker.". Hank's character was inspired by The Terminator, Blade and the Grammaton Clerics. Krinkels has noted that the identities of the characters are up for interpretation, including gender. In the description for Madness Combat 9.5, Hank is referred to with both he/him and they/them pronouns.
